Untangling the Galaxy. III. Photometric Search for Pre-main-sequence Stars with Deep Learning

چکیده

Abstract A reliable census of pre-main-sequence stars with known ages is critical to our understanding early stellar evolution, but historically there has been difficulty in separating such from the field. We present a trained neural network model, Sagitta, that relies on Gaia DR2 and 2 Micron All-Sky Survey photometry identify derive their age estimates. Our model successfully recovers populations properties associated star-forming regions up five kpc. Furthermore, it allows for detailed look at history solar neighborhood, particularly ranges which we were not previously sensitive. In particular, observe several bubbles distribution stars, most notable ring Local Bubble, may have common origins Gould’s Belt.

Pre-Main-Sequence Stars with Photometric Rotation Periods

We use mid-IR (primarily 10 μm) photometry as a diagnostic for the presence of disks with inner cavities among 32 pre-main sequence stars in Orion and Taurus-Auriga for which rotation periods are known and which do not show evidence for inner disks at near-IR wavelengths. Disks with inner cavities are predicted by magnetic disk-locking models that seek to explain the regulation of angular momen...

Photometric variability of the Pre-Main sequence stars

The photometric and spectral studies of the pre-main sequence stars are very important for understanding of the early stages of stellar evolution. Depending of the initial mass the young stars pass through different periods of stellar activity. The most prominent manifestations of this activity are changes in the star brightness with different periods and amplitudes.A short review on photometri...

A search for H2 around pre-main-sequence stars

We present the results of a search for pure rotational molecular hydrogen emission from two pre-main-sequence stars, AB Aur and CQ Tau. Observations were made using MICHELLE, the mid-IR echelle spectrometer at the UK Infrared Telescope. We found some evidence for emission in the J = 4→ 2 line in AB Aur, but no J = 3→ 1 line from either star. We derive upper limits on line flux which are signifi...

The Ages of Pre-main-sequence Stars

The position of pre-main-sequence or protostars in the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram is often used to determine their mass and age by comparison with pre-main-sequence evolution tracks. On the assumption that the stellar models are accurate, we demonstrate that, if the metallicity is known, the mass obtained is a good estimate. However, the age determination can be very misleading because it is s...

Infrared Space Observ at Ory Photometric Search of Main-sequence Stars for Vega-type Systems1

We obtained 3.6È20 km photometry of 38 bright [IRAS km)[ 0.7 Jy] main-sequence stars with Fl(12 the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO). Observations were conducted with the ISOPHOT instrument, in the single-pointing photometry mode, through Ðlters at 3.6, 11.5, and 20.0 km. We searched for excess (Vega-type) emission from dust at temperatures K, located at D1È60 AU from the stars. We thus Z100 sa...
